Obituary

Rudolph J. Vera, passed away peacefully at age 85 on Thurs., Mar. 14 surrounded by his loving family. Rudy was born in El Paso, TX to the late Rudolfo and Margarita Vera. He served in the U.S. Army, National Guard, and worked for 37 years at Dow Chemical. He enjoyed time with his family, listening to his music, watching old-time movies and fixing his cars. Rudy served as an usher at Church of the Good Shepherd and volunteered annually for Door of Faith Orphanage in Mexico. He is survived by his wife Carmen; children Elaine Gonzalez (Philip), Joseph (Venus), Jesse (Carol), Rudy (Eva) and Josie Esposito (Louis); 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister Genevieve Lopez and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters Rosie Steele and Mary Anderson. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Thurs., Mar. 21, 4pm with 7pm Vigil at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Friday, Mar. 22, 10am at Church of the Good Shepherd, Pittsburg. Committal services to follow, Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Church of the Good Shepherd.
