Ruth Lorraine Rodella born in Lehigh, Oklahoma and only child to parents Teresa Bugni and Francis O'Brien. She passed away at home at age 96 with her family after suffering from a long illness.
Lorraine as she was known, came to Pittsburg in 1926 at the age of six joining the rest of her relatives who had already migrated to Pittsburg from Oklahoma. She remained there the rest of her life.
She attended Pittsburg schools and was a proud graduate of the Pittsburg High School class of 1940. Three days after her graduation she was very fortunate to go to work for the Telephone Company in Pittsburg. She made a career of it and worked until her retirement 39 years later.
Lorraine met her future husband Ted Rodella at a Mt. Diablo vs Pittsburg High basketball game in 1940 and it was love at first sight. They were married in November 1940 at St. Peter Martyr Church. They celebrated sixty-two happy and memorable years together before his death in 2002.
Lorraine enjoyed vacationing with family in Twain Harte, Lake Tahoe, and in later years to Hong Kong, the British Isles, Italy and many cruises. She was a parishioner of Church of the Good Shepherd and a longtime member of the YLI in Pittsburg.
She leaves behind daughter, Sharon Calone and son-in-law Robert, granddaughters, Christine Calone (Ron Vincent) and Cheryl Calone.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral liturgy and rosary on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chapel Fund at the Church of the Good Shepherd.
