Salvador Rodriguez Sr., 100, was peacefully called to the Lord on Monday July 4, in Pittsburg. He is a descendent of a pioneer family that settled in the Presidio Valley, Texas during the early 1700's. He was the son of Lorenzo Rodriguez and Maria Dejesus Saenz. He was a blood relative of the Baeza, Rodriguez, Sanchez and Carrasco families, among the founders of the Presidio, West Texas Community.
He was a farmer, rancher, and cowboy on the family's Rodriguez Ranch in Presidio prior to moving to Pittsburg, California in 1948. He gained employment with U.S. Steel and was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local Union No. 1440 for 25 years.
Salvador is survived by his brother Jose N. Rodriguez, stepson Smiley and his seven remaining children, Saul, Alice, Virginia, Sal Jr, Ray, Lorenzo, David, and Rene, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Elisa Rodriguez, stepson Albert Madrid, stepdaughter Elodia Valenzuela and his daughter Martha Ferrante. His generous, loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
