Obituary

DeDe Anello lived a life defined by simplicity, kindness, and humility. Born in Pittsburg, California to immigrant parents from Sicily, DeDe was the youngest of eight children. He was close to his parents and brothers and sisters for as long as they remained on this earth. He was the last of his immediate family to pass, and we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace with them.

DeDe was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country during the Korean War. He worked for U.S. Steel and retired young, which gave him plenty of time to enjoy life. He was a man with simple tastes. He loved sports, weekend jaunts, Frank Sinatra, his social life at the Elks Lodge, Sunday dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, and his morning coffee with something sweet. He also loved to sing and had a beautiful voice.

Above all, DeDe loved his family. They were his pride and his greatest joy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage this past summer; his son, Tom and daughter-in-law Chris; his daughter, Jodee; grandchildren Anthony, Melanie, Jarrod, Zachary, and Cole; and numerous beloved great-grandchildren.

DeDe was kind, gentle, and easygoing. To know him was to love him. He was as genuine as they come. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.
