Steven Russel Johnson died tragically on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, of injuries from an automobile accident near his home in Martinez, California. He was 33 years old.
Steven was born on December 6, 1991, to Judi and Steve Johnson in Walnut Creek, California. As an only child, he was a special gift to his parents and was their pride and joy. He grew up in Antioch, California and attended Antioch schools. He played football for Antioch High School and graduated in 2010.
Steven was an electrician for Contra Costa Electric and was a member of IBEW Local 302. He was a diehard fan of the San Francisco Forty Niners and the San Francisco Giants. He enjoyed gaming and spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his loving parents, Steven is survived by his grandmother, Gloria Johnson of Antioch, CA, his aunts and uncles, Gavin & Kristie Johnson of Brentwood, CA, David & Edie Chandler of West Simsbury CT, Cheryl & Russell Hill of Fruita, CO and Michael & Patty Johnson of Redding, CA; first cousins Elizabeth (Corbin) Stewart, Rachel Johnson, Isaac (Rachel) Chandler, Abigail Chandler and Samuel Chandler, many extended family members and a large life-long group of dear friends whom he adored.
Steven was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Frank and Faye Chandler, paternal grandfather, Jack Johnson and his cousin Michael Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1:00pm at Laurel Ridge Community Church; 259 Laurel Road, Oakley, CA. Immediately following the memorial service, all are invited to join the family for lunch at Steven's favorite pizza place, Skipolini's Pizza. 901 Fitzuren Road, Antioch, CA.
Steven was greatly loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed forever. Judi and Steve are deeply touched by the love, kindness and generosity shown by Steven's friends, coworkers and acquaintances during this difficult time. The GoFundMe donations, flowers, cards, meals and personal visits have been deeply appreciated and a true blessing to them. They wish to thank all who has shown their love and care from the bottom of their hearts. We know that Steven is smiling down on all of you for the comfort you have brought to his beloved parents.
