S ylvia Ann Rivera, 71 years old, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 at her residence surrounded by the love of her family. She was born and raised in Pittsburg, California. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, godmother, great aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Sylvia graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1967.  Sylvia became employed right after her graduation with Concord Naval Weapons station as a civilian employee for many years until she retired. She was employed with Mount Diablo Unified School District for over 24 years as a cook in Central Kitchen. She was also employed with Waterworld in Concord, California during her summers. She retired from the Mount Diablo Unified School District in December of 2018.

Sylvia's love of cooking and baking was enjoyed by family and friends. She became our official cake baker for all birthdays, holidays and special occasions. She lovingly earned her sassy nickname by her cousins "Sarge" for her ability to have everyone doing something. Sylvia loved keeping in touch with family and friends. She also loved spending time with all her loved ones, "her babies", gambling in Reno, Nevada and road trips to Monterey Bay.

Sylvia is survived by sister, Irene Gonzales (Victor Gonzales) of Antioch, brother, Ralph Rivera (Pattie Rivera) of Antioch, Brother-in-law, Frank Miles of Manteca, Nieces, Melanie Romero (Richard Romero) of Pittsburg and Heather Zaragoza (John Zaragoza) of Moreno Valley, great nieces, Brittani Romero, Brianna Romero and Brielle Romero all of Pittsburg and two great nephews, Brian Romero of Pittsburg and Lucas Zaragoza of Moreno Valley. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Rose Rivera, sisters, Adele Rivera-Miles and Marlene Rivera.

Sylvia will forever be missed and always in our hearts. Rest easy our newest angel.

Due to Covid-19, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
