Teresa Masturzo passed away with her family at her side Sunday after a short and valiant battle with cancer.
Born on her beloved island of Capri, Italy, Teresa moved to Carmel, CA to be close to her only daughter Caterina. She kept her heritage and her faith close to her, remaining a devout Catholic and storyteller of Capri throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking for popular Monterey restaurants, including the Whaling Station and Domenico's. When she moved to Walnut Creek and later Pittsburg, she carried her delicious recipes with her to local restaurants Tullio's and Sorrento's. Her "Linguine Teresa" is still a menu feature.
Teresa is survived by her loving daughter Caterina Ferrante, son-in-law Joe, and grandchildren Giuliana, Teresa, and Giovanni. She is also survived by her brothers Alfonso and Benito, her sister Vittoria, and beloved nieces and nephews in Italy. She is preceded in death by her parents Giovanni and Rosa Masturzo, and her sister Antonietta. Family, friends and fellow parishioners will miss her generous, giving heart and her sunny smiles and greetings.

Family and friends are welcome to a 9am viewing on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy following at Church of the Good Shepherd at 10am. Committal services at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to cancer societies of the donor's choosing.
