It is with great sadness to share in the passing of our beloved mother, Theresa (Gonzalez) Navarro on November 18, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children. Theresa was born in Pittsburg, Ca. on April 1, 1933. She spent her entire life in Pittsburg, attending Pittsburg schools and graduating from Pittsburg High in 1951.

Mom's high school years were spent with her best friend and cousin Ann Mercado, mom would take the bus to Antioch, and they would spend the day or weekend together. Mom was very close to her mother, usually talking on the phone 3 or 4 times a day and has missed her dearly since her passing in 1981.

Our mother will be remembered for her love, patience, cooking and having a great time with loved ones. The kitchen at the Navarro home was always open. When family or friends came to visit, her first question was always "You want something to eat?" As the mother of eight children, the home was always a place of activity as one or more of her children would visit or often one, two or all three brothers would visit, eat and fill the house with jokes and laughter. The family home always celebrated holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve where uncles and cousins would gather and enjoy Mom's cooking and hospitality

As her children grew and moved out, mom's title changed to "Nani". In addition to taking care of our dad, she lovingly helped raise her grandchildren. But that wasn't enough for her, when the grandkids became school aged, she began her 2nd career as the lunch cook at St. Peter Martyr School, serving countless delicious homemade meals to teachers, students including some of her grandkids for 14 years. Once dad retired mom retired too.

Growing up, Mom cooked dinner every day except Sunday, when the family would take a Sunday drive, grab some burgers, eat and play at a park. As the family got older the park trips became less but snow trips and Easter trips to San Felipe became the norm. Sometimes mom and dad escaped for weekends to Lake Tahoe for the weekend. Once we move out to places of our own, mom and dad would spend weekends in Monterey/Carmel or Santa Barbara, take their Sunday drive to Stockton and eat at their favorite restaurant. Mom enjoyed passing on her cooking talents to her 5 daughters, laughing and dancing to music especially Michael Jackson.

She was the daughter of Jose Teofilo Gonzalez and Carmen Gonzalez. Theresa dedicated her life to God, her husband of 58 years Roberto who passed away in 2010 and her 8 children: Lucilla (John, deceased) Mangante, Sandra Navarro, Bob Navarro, Richard Navarro, George (Rozlyn) Navarro, Theresa (Roger) Haseltine, Roseann (Dan) Stewart, and Lisa (Ken) Hart. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Theresa also had 3 fun loving brothers Daniel (deceased), Nick (deceased), and Carlos.

Mom gave selflessly to her family, offering them guidance, warmth, love and laughter. Words cannot express how deeply our mother will be missed. She will remain forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm with the Rosary at 4:00 pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.  Funeral liturgy on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
