Tony, 71, was born, raised and resided in Pittsburg. Tony had a genuine love for all people, touched many lives and was known throughout many communities. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dagmar, children Derek Jimenez, Desiree Yeranossian (Artin), granddaughter, Skyton, sister Lydia Salvetti, brother Vince Jimenez (Lesley). He has nieces and nephews that he adores: Lisa Salvetti, Demaree Salvetti, Kelli Davis (Matt), Paul Jimenez and his great nieces and nephews, Matthew, Alyssa and Evelyn Davis. He was recently preceded in death by his mother, Helen Jimenez and brother-in-law Louis Salvetti.

He loved his family and friends with all his heart. Spending time with his children, Derek and Desiree, was a joyful priority as he always made time to connect, have fun, share wisdom and usually give a book. His first grandchild, Skyton, flooded him with love and pride. He enjoyed traveling with Dagmar to our beautiful California coasts and forests and they enjoyed visiting places off the beaten path. Forget big box stores, the little markets, gas stations and antique stores along the way, were the ones to explore. He also enjoyed spending time with his brother traveling with music blasting and his sister who watched him grow up and also baked him amazing cookies.

Formerly a dog man, he learned to love cats. He became the official "Cat Whisperer" and made it a point to be home every day at 4:00pm because his cats relied on him to be fed a concoction of various can foods mixed together. He was known for lowering the car windows as he drove to the house yelling "Babies" and all cats came running.

Always the jokester, he was fun to be around and loved to laugh.  His love for people was evident as he felt that everyone had a story to share. Conversational banter was the norm wherever he went. A connoisseur of music, he remembered the name of each artist and album. He also considered himself the unofficial manager of his good friend, Jesse DeTorres as he listened for hours to different songs that he felt Jesse should learn. Many a night was spent holding the phone up to the computer so JD could hear the music.

The tentacles of his friendships reached far and wide but nowhere was he more at home than in his hometown of Pittsburg. He frequently met with his friends which he referred to as the Three Amigos for coffee and discussed the affairs of the world. Summertime was all about the car shows, music and connecting with friends. He was proud of the Seafood Festival and beamed with pride about changes in downtown Pittsburg. He loved all the restaurants and being a Pittsburg boy, had a soft spot for the Mecca. The reopening of the California Theater was a huge event as he remembered how it was long ago. He wished his parents could have lived to see the changes. Stories from his youth recalled Italian fisherman working on their nets, going to the movies at the Vogue and swimming in the Delta. He used to say that Pittsburg was Diversity before the word was even coined as all ethnicities were represented and most important, got along.

A graduate of U.C. Berkeley and S.F. State, he worked at Chevron for 30 years where he developed and taught some of Chevron's most successful courses for leaders. Tony has been fortunate to work with a cross-section of the world's most talented speakers and leaders. He frequently traveled abroad and was excited to share knowledge of leadership styles based on international values. When he "retired" from Chevron, he refused to call it retirement. Instead he called it Reinvention. "Retirement is for dying" he would say and so he reinvented himself by coaching and consulting with many groups and mentoring those who were up for the task. Most recently he was excited to fly to Houston October 13 to present at a Chevron conference.

Tony was also active in many organizations including numerous Toastmaster groups, Pittsburg Entertainment & Arts Hall of Fame (PEAHOF), a founding member of Los Medanos College Latino Advisory Committee,  United Council of Spanish Speaking Organization, Kennedy-King Scholarship, the Contra Costa Sheriff's Dept., Opportunity Junction, advisor to two of the Los Medanos College presidents and advised aspiring young politicians.

The list of accomplishments is too long to mention and in the recent years was proud to receive the Los Medanos College 2015 Cesar Chavez Award for Exemplary Community Service.

Tony looked for the redeeming qualities in everyone. He was a good hearted and moral man. A true renaissance man, he will be missed by all.

Celebration of Life will held on Sat. Oct 19th at 10:00am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.
