Violet Marie "Ginger" Hess, 89 peacefully passed away March 27, 2012 with her family by her side. She was born in Trenton, New Jersey. Violet spent her childhood years in Worchester, Massachusetts. After graduation from Worchester Classical High School she attended Worchester City Hospital School of nursing and graduated as an registered nurse. Violet joined the Army nurse corp. and served in both the European and Pacific theaters during WWII earning two bronze stars and a purple heart. It was in the Pacific Theater on Okinawa that Violet met and married her husband, Captain Myron T. Hess (Army) and spent the next 48 years together. Violet and Myron had five children together, Myron T. Hess Jr. (Catherine), Thomas P. Hess (Marlys), William R. Hess (Penny), Lorelei M. Hess (deceased) and Sandra A. Hess (Wells). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren and special friend Dolores and many friends and neighbors. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:00am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Violets ashes will be interred next to her beloved husband Myron at Arlington National Cemetery.
