Violet "Vi" Marcantonio passed away on September 2, 2015, at Kaiser Hospital in Antioch after a brief illness. She was 93. Vi was a native of Gaastra, Michigan. She moved to Pittsburg in 1943. The year she married her hometown sweetheart, O.F. "Marc" Marcantonio. She resided in Pittsburg for 72 years.
For many years Vi was an active member of the Wren Unit of the Mt. Diablo Rehabilitation Center and volunteered at its local thrift shop. While her children were growing up, she was an active parent participant at St. Peter Martyr School. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, flower arranging, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Vi was preceded in death by her husband O.F. "Marc" Marcantonio (1995) and son Gary M. Marcantonio (2011). She is survived by her daughter Susan M. Marcantonio of Pittsburg, brother Ralph Schinella of Iron River, Michigan, eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A private inurnment will be held at a future date.
