Virgilio F. Gulingan, age 83, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024. He was born on September 2, 1941, in Manila, Philippines.

Virgilio had a long and dedicated career as an accounting clerk with the Southern Pacific Railroad Company in San Francisco, where he worked for 30 years before retiring. In addition to his work at the railroad, he also took on a second job as an Environmental Services Worker at Kaiser Permanente on Geary Street, serving the community with his strong work ethic and steadfast dedication.

In his free time, Virgilio enjoyed watching the San Francisco 49ers and playing solitaire with his deck of cards, moments of relaxation that he cherished. Above all, Virgilio was deeply committed to his faith in his Catholic church community. He served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister and Congregation Helper, roles that were an important part of his life. One of his greatest joys was being in church every Sunday, where he found peace and purpose.

Virgilio is survived by his loving wife, Salvacion Gulingan, and their six children. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his life will be remembered for his kindness, faith, and dedication to his family and community.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm with a vigil at 4:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 10:30am at Church of the Good Shepherd. No reception to follow.
