Obituary

Virginia Marie Ruíz Vásquez was born in Antioch, California, to Santiago and Cármen Ruíz on October 25th, 1931. Virgie was one of 8 sisters and 6 brothers.
She lived her early life on 17th St. and graduated from Antioch High School in 1949. She met and married Tony Vásquez of Pittsburg on December 2, 1950, and enjoyed 58 years of marriage together. Virgie worked at Tillie Lewis Foods Cannery in Antioch and JC Penney's in Pittsburg. The role she valued the most was being a wife to Tony, mother to their 4 children and a doting grandmother to her 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Virgie always opened her home to friends and family and loved cooking for others. She and Tony enjoyed all things Pittsburg like Friday night football games, the Seafood Festival, and the Michael Valle Co-Ed Softball Tournament. As an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49'ers and the UCLA Bruins she never missed a game. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, walking, socializing, and dancing. Virginia was a devout Catholic and a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Virgie was preceded in death by her husband Tony in 2008. She is survived by son, Dr. Nick Antonio Vásquez (Aaron Estrada), daughters Lorraine Vásquez, Marcella Orr (Bobby), and Sandra Florez, grandchildren Tré and Jenae Florez, Katelyn, Tyler (Alyssa) and Owen Orr and great grandchildren Salem and Sophie Orr. She is also survived by her sister Cármen Jones, brothers Mike and Frank Ruíz, many nieces and nephews, and her faithful companion "Lucky" who provided love and comfort until the very end.

A special thank you to Gloria, Lavada, and Mariana of ProHealth Hospice for the amazing love and care they provided these last few months
