Obituary

A wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Margaret Demetrakopulos. He had two children Georgianne Gonsalves and Pauline Demetrakopulos from his first marriage in 1951 to Nethe Mitchell. He later met Margaret Digou in 1959 during his construction years in Lake Tahoe and had two children, Marisa Kolokousis (John), and George Demetrakopulos (Monique) which brought about grandchildren Matthew and Rachel from daughter Marisa, and Alexander, Isabella and Sophia from son George. He had one great-grandson Everett from his grandson Matthew. He also had eight nieces and five nephews from his four sisters, of which one nephew has passed. His father George and two uncles Jim and Pete came to America from Levidi, Greece in the early 1900's, and became very successful property and business owners throughout their years. In Pittsburg in 1944 his father sent him to San Rafael Military Academy, a very exclusive school in San Rafael. He spent four years there. He loved sports and was given a full scholarship to Menlo Junior College for basketball, but ended up being better as a pitcher for whom Stanford was interested. He decided to leave college to pursue various occupations, primarily building, construction and taking care of family real estate. He retired at age 65 and spent the rest of his life comfortably at Stoneman Village, a senior complex located in Pittsburg which he enjoyed very much. As per his request, services will be held for immediate family only.
