Chaplain Morgan was born in Lecompte, Louisiana. He began his military career as an Enlisted Combat Infantryman, March 1952 with duty in Korea, 7th Infantry Division after Basic and Advanced Infantry Training and Leadership School at Fort Riley, Kansas.

After discharge in 1954, Chaplain Morgan returned to Louisiana College, Pineville, Louisiana where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. From there he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, graduating with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. In 1980, he graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree, Pepperdine University, Malibu, California.

After receiving his Seminary training, he returned to Active Duty as a Chaplain. He is a graduate of the US Army Chaplain Basic and Career Courses and the US Army Finance School. In addition to his duty in Korea, Chaplain Morgan served with the US Army Air Defense Center and School, Fort Bliss, Texas; US Army-Europe, Karlsruhe, Germany; US Army Air Defense Command, Schwetzingen, Germany where he also performed 10 temporary duty assignments in Tehran, Iran and Asmara, Ethopia and the US Army Training Center, Fort Polk, Louisiana, Chaplain Morgan's Reserve Duty has been with the 91st Division (Training), Fort Baker, Sausalito, California and as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee with Letterman Army Medical Center, Presidio of San Francisco, California.

During his military career, Chaplain Morgan has been awarded the following decorations: Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Korean Service Medal with four stars, Army Reserve Medal, United Nations Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal and wears four Overseas Bars.

Chaplain Morgan retires from the United States Army with over 34 years of service.
